Sad story...

I talk to my Mom everyday day at least 2x's a day and we just talk about our days and what we are up to. Well My little brother's football season has started back up my Mom is pretty busy with it Mon-Friday after work that is where she will be. This will be my Mom's 4th year out there with some of the same parents and new ones.

My Mom was telling me this Story last night and it made me so sad. My mom was talking to a mother whos' son is on the team. She was telling my Mother she was a single mother and this was the first year she could afford to save up money for her son to play football this year. she says it so hard for her to get him to practice because of her work. She is a city bus driver and told him that most of the time he will have to take the city bus to get to practice and home from so she bought him a pass. She said her son didn't want to because he was embarrass and would have to leave an hour early to practice and get home hour late from practice. But she told her son sorry but this was the only way it would work if wanted to get to practice. So this little boy who is 10 yrs old wants to play football so bad that he takes the bus to and from practice.

I think about my brother who is 10 and can't imagine sending him on a city bus. Not that anything is wrong with a city bus but I just think 10 yrs old is way too young. I have never been a city bus and can only imagine how scared and embarrssed that little boy is.

But I also think and say wow this little boy loves football so much that he just bites the bullet and gets on the bus. He could cry and say no and just not play football but no he just does what has to get the joy of playing football. What an amazing person!!

I know we all bite the bullet some time in our life but at 10 yrs old and having life to be so tough?? At 10 I was running around and not even thinking or knowing how good I had it.

By the end of the story my Mom had me in tears and I told what can we do for them and she said "Audrey I already did, I told her since I was able to that I could take him home everyday from practice!" My Mom said she was yes in tears when this Mother told her the story. My Mother said she could feel her pain and her struggle to try and provide for her son as my Mother is too a single Mother.

I look back on my childhood and as me and my sister were growing up we had 2 parents in the household and never knew how it was to go grow up without a parent or see one parent struggle to provide for us.

My parents divorced when My little brother was 5 and me and my sisiter we 18 and 23yrs old. I have to say we don't talk to our dad often nor does he really have anything to do with us besides pay my Mother a check every month. But I have to say my little brother is so blessed to have 2 sisters and so much family who are so willing to help my Mother out with him. My Grandma is helping my Mother out with getting my brother to practice eveyday. I love my Mother with all my heart and my family who has always been there for us no matter what. I am turly Blessed to have the Mother I have and my family.

Next time I complain to my Husband about our living situations, bills, or what we might not have..... I'll the think of the little boy who goes through hoops just to enjoy something he likes!!!
